1. Announcements

2020Census: A meeting will be held Thursday, January 30, 7pm, in the board room to discuss outreach issues.  Also: the census is looking for paid census workers.

 

Vision 2020: Members of the supervisor’s Community Transition Team presented the board with their report. Although the contents were not discussed, Supervisor Slater said the report would be posted on the town’s web site.

 

2. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay contest

The board formally adopted a resolution creating the annual essay contest and announced the rules.

 

3. Part time fire inspectors

Pending the hiring of an additional fire inspector or an additional assistant building inspector, the board hired four part-time fire inspectors.

 

4. Legal services

The board authorized advertising an RFP for legal services.

 

5. Hallocks Mll Sewer Extension District

The board tabled a resolution that would have set a February public hearing date for the formal creation of the district pending a discussion at next week’s work session on how to deal with the county and DEP’s concern that not enough property owners will actually hook up to the sewer line. Supervisor Slater explained that in a conference call with the DEP. the agency cited a provision in the town code that required hookups within 90 days if a sewer line was available. He said that Mr. Quinn was reviewing the positive responses to the petition to see how many of the Yes votes required  the more expensive low pressure hookup. 

 

6. Vehicle purchase

The board authorized the purchase of a backhoe loader for the Water Department at a cost of $120,073.
